About me

My name is Ekaterina, I have been working in the nail industry since 2004. Nail art have always have always been my passion. I remember when I was a kid sitting at my desk at school and painting lines on my nails using pens.

After graduating from high school in 2004, I learned how to do manicure, nail extensions with gel and acrylic and it has become my way of life. For me, manicure specialist is not just a profession, but a lifestyle.

After graduating from the University at the Faculty of Art History and Cultural Studies, I defended my thesis: “Body decoration: traditions and modernity (face art, body art, tattoo and nail art as a phenomenon of mass culture)”, where I conducted an art criticism analysis of how manicure became an integral part of everyday life.

About technology

“European manicure”: the trend that has conquered the world.

For several years now, “European Manicure ” has been a number one nail trend in the West and United States.

So, what is a «European Manicure” and it’s advantages:

When treating nails, a hardware method is used. This device is carried out with the help of a combination of different nozzles, the choice of which depends on the nature of the work performed: the milling machine gently removes the cuticle, while leaving no roughness or damage on the skin.

The advantage of this method is that you do not have to cut off excess skin, thus it reduces the risk of infection. The nozzles do not have sharp elements, and after the procedure all the nozzles are necessary sterilized in an autoclave with hot steam.

One more advantage of this method is an ability is that it lets to treat only problem areas therefore it does not affect healthy skin and nail plate. Besides, after a mechanical processing, cuticle do not grow as fast?and it also allows you to apply a gel coating close to the cuticle which results in a clean and well- groomed manicure for 3-4 weeks.

Must not: to remove old coating yourself, the base is very firmly attached to the nail plate, so in this case you can not tear off the old coating, it this way – the nail plate will be damaged.

With the right technology, the procedure for removing the old coating with the device does not cause any harm to the nails.

Sterilization of the instrument

European manicure and pedicure . The most important thing : sterilization of the instrument !!!

Important post about sterilization of instruments
The first stage is disinfection and pre-sterilization cleaning. This is soaking tools in special disinfectant solutions. However, after it it is impossible to guarantee the death of all microorganisms, so only this stage of processing is not enough.

The second stage is cleaning. Rinsing the disinfected instruments under running water, then drying them on a clean paper or woven cloth.

The third stage is sterilization. Devices for sterilization – a dry-burning cabinet or an autoclave. In the sinkhole, the tools undergo heat treatment – for 60 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees

The fourth stage is storage. Proper storage of tools is very important, otherwise the previous three steps are meaningless. A big mistake is using an ultraviolet sterilizer as a treatment method. Ultraviolet is convenient to use for storing already sterilized instruments. By rights

History

“The art of manicure was known in ancient Egypt. When one of the oldest tombs was found in 1964, it turned out that the “custodians and masters of Pharaoh’s nails” – Nianikhanum and Hanumhotep – were buried in it. It was under such an honorary title that the court masters of manicure appeared in the list of Pharaoh Nuser’s retinue !! This was one of the chapters of my thesis at M. Gorky Ural State University Faculty of “Art History and Cultural Studies” as an art analysis based on the encyclopedia of “Bad Taste” that unfortunately, nowadays manicure, tattoo, body and face art have the status as a phenomenon of mass culture…. in general.

In China people believed that long nails provide connection with certain Higher Forces that can give a person success and wealth. The fingers of the supreme ruler were especially important. It was believed that their ideal appearance guarantees the prosperity of the whole nation, so the position of “imperial manicure specialist” (или manicurist) was very prestigious.

In Egypt, when the pharaohs were buried together with them, special companions were sent to the afterlife, which confirmed the credentials issued – servants were obliged to protect the beauty of the nails of the deceased lord. Quite a justified measure, given that the governors of the Gods were now becoming heavenly guardians of the country.

In Russia, only one day of the week was allocated for manicure – Thursday. Violators of this tradition attracted all sorts of troubles and diseases. For the same reasons, it was forbidden for shepherds to cut nails during the livestock breeding season, young children, pregnant women. Interestingly, all the scraps had to be burned in ashes so that evil spirits could not take control of a person.

The inability to grow truly long nails was considered a big drawback for rich brides of ancient Asia. They came out of the situation simply: special metal nozzles were put on their fingers, imitating pointed claws of birds or animals. Such jewels has always been inherited, so their age helped to judge the nobility of the family. The girl who lost one of the nozzles turned into a “supported product”, her chances of a successful marriage decreased.
